Thanku for tuning into the latest episode of The Cat Harley Connection.  Your continued support is much appreciated!!

In today's episode I shared with you my personal skincare routine.  These are the very same steps I take on a consistent basis to keep my skin clear and glowing!  Cleansing and moisturizing serums are included as well, just before moisturizer.

Keep in mind the advice I gave you on how serums penetrate deeper than moisturizers, so applying serums before applying moisturizer is  very important. This will help the long term results produce better results.

Makeup primer is used to help your foundation stay in place and go on smoothly.

Varying skin types will determine the type of primer that will be best for you.

There are Primers for oily ,dry or aging skin or skin types that need refining due to acne scarring large pores and more.

Primer can be a cream, a lotion or a serum.

Primers can be worn alone or under foundation

A great trick for the upcoming a warmer weather is using a  BB  or CC cream.
This product is used under foundation but used alone offers a great natural look to the skin,  will give very light coverage and will aid in camouflaging dark marks and dark  circles.

This is a great tip for when running quick errands or looking stress free at the gym!!

Contouring Can Add Life and Lift to Your Face!

12/1/2015

Although foundation is an essential step, after it has been applied, the natural highlights and contour of the face will have been concealed under the foundation and that can result in a flat or uniform appearance of the face.  That's why contouring is important after the foundation stage....it will bring definition back to your facial features and even more.

The techniques for contouring are as varied as the individual woman. That's  what makes it such a unique and personal experience.  Still there are some basic techniques that apply to all faces.

Typical parts of the face that will benefit with contouring:
  • the cheek bones
  • the bridge of the nose
  • and around the forehead area
  • and for added dimension,  under the chin, for a slimming effect if desired
Picture
Contouring is done with a cream foundation or concealer that is at least two shades darker than your regular foundation and depending on the look you want to achieve, you can go as deep as four shades darker.  Powder can be used for this technique also and for beginners powder may be easier to start with.

Whether using cream or powder,  the key to a flawless contour is to BLEND... BLEND... and BLEND some more.

Did you know that contouring can do all of this:
  • give you an incredible look especially for the shape of your face
  • draw attention to your best features
  • conceal many unflattering features
  • give you a fuller look if desired
  • complement a thin face
  • bring balance to the entire face
  • give you the look of a flawless complexion
  • be easy enough for a daily routine
  • and much,  much more!

Depending on the results you’d like to accomplish, contouring can be applied to all of the places I’ve suggested or to just one area…or to a combination of areas.  That means you can develop contouring techniques that can work for you on a very special occasion or can be used for a quick, everyday pick-me-up.

One of my highest recommendations is, “Don’t overlook the cheek bones”.... that's a great place to start your contouring, especially if you are trying to learn the  techniques of contouring on your own.

Of course, my primary recommendation is to connect with me.  Relax and allow me give you a professional contouring session, especially for your unique face, complexion and skin type.  You'll come away with a dazzling new look and full of self-confidence.... plus you’ll be on my mailing list to learn about new trends in contouring for the future.  I'm Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Cat's Advice for Protection -  "Head-to-Toe" Skin Safety

4/7/2014

Applying  sun screen helps to keep your skin healthy and helps maintain an even complexion and glow.
The sun is one of our most powerful resources, yet...protecting your skin from the sun's ultraviolet (UV) radiation is important for the health of our skin.
I love sharing hair care advice as well as make-up and lashes but I’m an educator for the woman who desires head-to-toe  health and that includes the skin she’s in!  So connect with me on this very important topic.

The weather is changing and we’ve had a long hard winter. Most of us can’t wait to feel the sun on our bodies …..but before you lift your face to the sky and start soaking up the rays, please take my recommendation and remember to apply sun screen!

Your skin tone may be as light as honey or as deep as dark chocolate and it still needs to be protected from the harmful effects of the sun….and it’s good to keep this mind all year round.   Applying  sun screen helps to keep your skin healthy and  helps maintain an even complexion and glow.

The relationship between exposure to the sun and skin cancer, premature skin aging and eye damage has been well documented, but did you know that without sun screen, existing scars and blemishes can appear darker and more pronounced?

When you have questions about the best sun screen product for your individual skin type I’m standing by to give you a complimentary consultation.  We can have a discussion about some of the many levels of sunscreen products because all products are not for all skin types.

My advice in general is to seek out sunscreen products with a  SPH of 15.  Depending on the length of time you expect to be exposed to direct sunlight.  For example, SPF 15 will provide  me with approximately 150 minutes in the sun without burning.

I have more info about deciding how to choose the correct SPH level for your lifestyle.  We can also talk about the many products that can give you protection, including lotions , creams, and sprays….we’ll also explore the water proof formulas  which are excellent for swimmers and beach goers and amusement park lovers!  We can also talk about the best choices for kids!
